Milwaukee-Area Entrepreneurs And Engineers Helped Design Masks To Protect Against Coronavirus

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the United States, health care providers and first responders have had to deal with a severe shortage of personal protection equipment, including face masks that filter out the deadly virus.

On this edition of UWM Today, we hear about a local team of entrepreneurs and engineers who helped design masks that can be mass-produced. And they did it in a matter of weeks, not months or years. Our guests are Kyle Jansson, director of the UWM Prototyping Center at the university’s Innovation Campus in Wauwatosa, and Lindsey Roddy, a doctoral student at UWM’s College of Nursing and CEO and founder of Roddy Medical – a Milwaukee medical device startup.

Tom Luljak hosted UWM Today on WUWM for more than two decades and is the inaugural host of Curious Campus.
