Milwaukee Artist Resource Network Receives $3 Million Grant

Milwaukee Artist Resource Network
Milwaukee Artist Resource Network recently announced it received a $3 million grant, which has members of organization feeling celebratory.

Last week, the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network (MARN) announced it was granted an anonymous gift of $3 million. It's a lot of money, and it has the board of directors and staff feeling celebratory. Plans are already in motion to find a street-level home for the group that would serve as offices, a gallery, and a program space.

Pamela Anderson is the Chair of MARN's board of directors. Mal Montoya is MARN's President & CEO. The two spoke with Lake Effect's Bonnie North about what this gift means to them.

"For an organization such as MARN to actually be handed an anonymous gift, an unsolicited gift, it really does speak not only to the nature of the philanthropic community here in Milwaukee, but it also speaks to the value that someone felt MARN could offer this community," Montoya says.

Bonnie North
Bonnie joined WUWM in March 2006 as the Arts Producer of the locally produced weekday magazine program Lake Effect.
