The regular Florentine Opera season may be over, but you can still get your opera fix on Friday and Saturday.
Tomorrow and Saturday, at the Florentine Opera’s Riverwest Center on East Burleigh Street in Riverwest, the company will present a workshop performance of a new opera still in the works.
Sister Carrie is based on Theodore Dreiser’s novel of the same name, in which a rural Wisconsin girl moves to the big city at the turn of the last century. The composer, Robert Aldridge, was also the composer of the Florentine’s recent production of Elmer Gantry.
He, along with soprano Adriana Zabala and director David Walsh, join Lake Effect’s Bonnie North in the studio to discuss the opera in progress.
