Next Act Theatre Stages 'How To Write A New Book For The Bible'

American playwright Bill Cain writes smart, funny plays. Milwaukee audiences were introduced to his play Equivocation at Next Act Theatre last winter. And now they have a chance to see a show just as funny and sharp but a lot more personal. In How to Write a New Book for The Bible, Cain tackles the story of the end of his mother’s life and how she, and the rest of the family, cope.

Jack Dwyer, who plays Bill, says the play asks some fundamental questions that come up as we contemplate life without our parents: "How am I going to go on? Who am I going to become? What do these people mean to me and how do I figure that out before I never see them again?"

Director David Cecsarini, actor Carrie Hitchcock, who plays Mary, the mother, and Dwyer join us to talk about the play:
