Pence Takes Aim at Clinton during Milwaukee Rally

The Trump campaign is looking to gain ground in Wisconsin. Earlier this week, the Marquette Pollshowed the Republican presidential candidate trailing Secretary Clinton by 15 points among likely voters.

At a rally in Milwaukee on Thursday, Trump's running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, told supporters that the U.S. cannot afford four more years of the same failed policies.

The rally was held in a ballroom in the Hilton Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. A few hundred supports listened closely as Mike Pence introduced himself. “I’m a Christian, conservative and Republican in that order," he said.

From there, Pence went on to not only praise Donald Trump, but criticize Hillary Clinton and President Obama.

“History teaches us that weakness arouses evil. And I truly do believe that the foreign policy that Hillary Clinton carried on behalf of Barack Obama, a foreign policy of leading from behind, moving red lines, fainting resets with Russia, the rise and rule and reign of ISIS are a testament to that truth of history,” Pence said.

Pence also went after Clinton over missing emails from her time as Secretary of State, and allegations that the Clinton Foundation was in bed with the State department during her tenure.

He was interrupted a few times by protestors who were escorted out. Pence said people who want real change will vote for Donald Trump.

“If you want a president who will build a wall, restore strong boarders and enforce the laws of this nation for the citizens of this nation and I promise you this, if you want a president who will upend the status quo in Washington D.C., and uphold the constitution of the United States of America, then my friends here in Wisconsin, we have but one choice,” he said.

Still, Pence urged supporters at the rally to focus more on what they have in common with other instead of how they differ.

One woman in the crowd, May Weber, said focusing on similarities may be difficult for her. “If a friend of mine actually consciously voted for Hillary, I’d have a hard time keeping that friendship going. Because there is just so much against her. So many proven facts against her that I don’t understand how someone could consciously vote for her,” she said.

And if Clinton wins…

“You know what? I’ve probably gotten 15- 20 years left, I’m scared. I’m scared for my grandchildren, I’m scared for my children,” Weber said.

At the age of 68, the retired sheet metal worker said this is the most important election of her life.

Weber said she supported Trump even before he decided to run. However, there’s a growing contingent of Republicans now calling upon the RNC to stop funding the businessman and focus on hanging onto Congress.

“They’re so afraid that Trump is going to win, and that he is going to change things and even some Republicans, I hate to say it, but some Republicans like it the way it is because it’s putting more in her pockets and it’s keeping the status quo,” Weber saod.

She said everywhere she goes she lets people know that their vote matters and they need to exercise it come November.
