“Every good story starts with a bad decision” is the premise behind Roxi Copland's new album.
In 2016, singer-songwriter was named Wisconsin jazz musician of the year. However, her latest release is an album of original songs - with a definite Americana/pop sound - called Bad Decision.
"I think that, if I were to be asked, I would say it’s a blend of Americana, blues and jazz. That's fair," says Copland. "It definitely has a few elements that weren’t present in my earlier work."
Copland joined WUWM’s Bruce Winter in the performance studio with her keyboard to play a few songs and explain her apparent change in direction:
