South Milwaukee Children's Book Author Releases Her 39th & 40th Books

janethalfmann.com

When it comes to children’s literature, it’s hard to beat a good animal story. And that’s good news for South Milwaukee children’s book author JanetHalfmann, who has written more than a few animal-themed books in her career.

Animals figure in both of her two latest titles – Animal Teachers and a Rainbow of Birds. Animal Teachers just won a  2014 Gold Best Book Award from Oppenheim Toy Portfolio

Janet Halfmann speaks with Lake Effect's Mitch Teich and shares how these stories came to be.

"In researching, I found that there were a lot of ways that the [animal] parents and even their older siblings were teaching the children," Halfmann says. "That just fascinated me, and I thought that that would fascinate kids too, to see that the animals are sort of mirroring the child's world."

Halfmann will talk about her book this weekend as part of the Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books.  She'll be a part of the Author's Marketplace events on Saturday.
