This UWM Professor Has Spent 30 Years Studying Bees. Here's What He's Learned

JEFFREY KARRON
A UWM professor has spent 30 years studying bees. What he's learned may surprise you.

On these summer days, one of the great escapes for many of us is a garden. Here in Wisconsin, it seems like our reward for enduring months of cold, snow and slush. But while we may be drawn to the colorful flowers, some people are more interested in the small, winged visitors to the flowers: the bees.

Our guest on this edition of UWM Today is one of those people. Jeffrey Karron has spent his career studying bees because of the critical role they play in plant reproduction. He's a professor of biological sciences at UWM and has spent 30 years meticulously documenting the behaviors of bees. And what he has learned may surprise you.

Tom Luljak hosted UWM Today on WUWM for more than two decades and is the inaugural host of Curious Campus.
