People dealing with a mental or behavioral health issue often don’t seek medical attention because of the social stigma attached to those conditions. The problem is especially acute in low-income neighborhoods, where finding money for extra care can be challenging.
On this edition of UWM Today, we learn about a program that integrates mental health care and assessments into regular appointments for physical conditions like managing diabetes. Joining us are two researchers — Bev Zabler and Nicole Pryor — who introduced the program. Both are assistant clinical professors in the UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing.
