On April 7, countries around the globe will celebrate World Health Day. It is a time when health care professionals showcase the improvements that have been made in the health of people living around the world in the past year and a time to take stock of what still needs to be done.
At UW-Milwaukee, there is a special reason to celebrate World Health Day because about a year-and-a-half ago the university launched a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Health — the first of its kind in Wisconsin. It gives students an opportunity to travel around the world and experience first-hand how other countries deliver health care to their citizens and how it compares to the health care system in the United States.
Joining us in the studio is Anne Dressel assistant professor in the college of nursing and the director of the Center for Global Health Equity at UWM.
