Walker Headed to Japan for Trade Conference

Gov. Walker’s office announced Thursday that he’ll attend the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association Conference in Tokyo.

It begins Sunday and runs through Tuesday.

Walker says the goal of the trip is to build trade ties between Wisconsin and investors and businesses in Japan. Walker says the country is “very important” to the state’s global business, as Wisconsin’s fifth largest destination for exports.

The governor says Japan is the number one buyer of Wisconsin products in the medical and scientific instruments category.

The head of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Reed Hall, will accompany Walker on the trip.
