Waukesha Judge Michael Bohren decided the trials belong in adult court, even though the girls were 12 at the time they allegedly stabbed a friend.
The case is sometimes referred to as the Slender Man case, because the two suspects reportedly told investigators that the girls believed they had to kill their classmate to please a fictional character by that name. The two then allegedly lured their friend into the woods and stabbed her multiple times. She survived her wounds.
The girls' attorneys had argued that their confused thinking and age warranted charges of second-degree attempted homicide, which would have sent them to juvenile court.
