Lawns in Milwaukee Must be Kept 7” or Shorter

The City of Milwaukee has amended its ordinance regarding tall grass and noxious weeds.

Under the amended ordinance, which took effect Monday, lawns must be clipped to 7” or lower. The previous maximum height was 9”.

The Department of Public Works says the new requirement will make yards more attractive, and show that “Milwaukeeans take pride in their community.”

Property owners whose grass and weeds are more than 7” in height will be subject to a $50 fee. Additional fees kick in, for multiple violations.
