People who use wheelchairs often find themselves dealing with serious shoulder injuries and pain.
The problem is the repetitive motions required to move the chair. More than 20 muscles in the arms and upper body are put in motion each time the wheelchair user tries to go somewhere. But help is on the way.
UW-Milwaukee researcher Brooke Slavens is involved in a project that could bring real relief to the many people confined to wheelchairs but paying a big price for the constant pushing and pulling.
