State Senators are poised to act today on a bill that would weaken the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. The proposed changes have won support from the Republican controlled Assembly. The bill would cut board resources and authority as well as reducing supervisors' terms from four to two years. The county executive would gain power. Democrats oppose the changes which they call an attack on local control. Republican supporters say the changes are needed to make Milwaukee County government more responsive.
