Comedian Tig Notaro Finds The Humor In Tragedy

tignation.com/

Comedian Tig Notaro would not have chosen the path that vaulted her to fame and notoriety.  But she has certainly made the most of a tough situation.  Notaro's most well-known narrative was a candid recounting of a tough period of her life, which culminated in her cancer diagnosis.

Fortunately for her, and for her growing number of fans, Notaro's health is good today.  And she'll be headlining a show Thursday at Turner Hall.  From the road in Mississippi, Notaro spoke with Lake Effect's Mitch Teich about the daily life of a comedian, and how her hardships have shaped her comedy.

"People reach out all the time and stop me on the street and thank me for inspiration and strength to go through their diagnosis or their rotten day at work, and it just feels nice to be tied to that positivity," says Notaro.

Comedian Tig Notaro is a contributor to the public radio show This American Life.  She'll appear this Thursday night at Milwaukee's Turner Hall with special guest Kjell Bjorgen.

Audrey is a WUWM host and producer for Lake Effect.
