'Holmes and Watson' Comes to The Milwaukee Rep

Michael Brosilow

Milwaukee Rep
(L to R) Norman Moses (Watson) and Mark Corkins (Evans)

There's nothing elementary about the new production Holmes and Watsonat the Milwaukee Rep. This Midwest premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher's play is directed by the Rep’s former artistic director Joe Hanreddy.

It stars Norman Moses and Mark Corkins - two men very familiar to Milwaukee theatre audiences. Between them, they have decades of on stage experience and in this play they get to show off all of that skill and experience to great theatrical effect.

"It's like getting on a ride and it just keeps accelerating," Corkins says about the challenging play. "There's a few little slower moments, memory sequences, but it's really exhilarating and that is what made it necessary for us to really negotiate and navigate these turns. How sharp are they and how do we articulate them for an audience who may be seeing this for the first time because it's so new?"

Corkins and Moses joined Lake Effect's Bonnie North just before a rehearsal, and they obliged by offering us this tidbit from Holmes and Watson:
