Wisconsin native Thornton Wilder's Our Town is an iconic and Pulitzer-prize winning piece of American theatre. In the 80 years since it was first produced, there have been innumerable productions from grade school to Broadway.
The Milwaukee Repertory Theater opensits productionFriday, April 13 on the Quadracci Powerhouse stage. Lake Effect's Bonnie North had the opportunity to talk with actor Laura Gordon, who plays the Stage Manager, and director Brett Hazelton.
He says there's a reason this play still resonates: "If we're still doing American plays from the 20th century in 200, 300, 500 years, or for the people 1,000 years from now that Thornton Wilder invokes in the first act, I think this will probably be the one we're still doing. It's about everything that it is to be a human being."
