Powerful winds and heavy rain rattled southern Wisconsin overnight. Storm experts concluded Tuesday afternoon that three tornadoes also touched down.
Two twisters damaged parts of the U-W Platteville campus. It canceled classes Tuesday.
Wisconsin's Emergency Operations Center says one tornado had winds up to 120 mph, the other reaching 105 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, a third tornado swept through northwest Verona. At least 30 homes there experienced major damage and part of a wall collapsed at Country View Elementary School.
Madison reports damage to about 180 homes.
In the metro Milwaukee region, storms knocked down branches and power lines in some neighborhoods.
