Day Two of Christopher Manney Hearing Underway

A hearing into a fired Milwaukee Police officer's quest to be re-instated continued Friday afternoon. Christopher Manney fatally shot Dontre Hamilton, an unarmed, mentally ill black man, in Red Arrow Park last April.

While no criminal charges were filed, Manney was fired late last year for violating the police department's pat-down rules.  Manney is appealing the decision to fire him.

Three members of the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission are hearing the appeal.  If the panel doesn't reach a decision Friday night, the hearing will continue on Saturday.

Former Milwaukee County Chief Judge Michael Skwierawski is acting as the hearing examiner.  He said at the start of Friday's proceeding that several hours would be allowed on Sunday for continuation, if there's still no decision on Saturday.  Skwierawski had already mapped out time on Monday, in the hope that a decision will be reached no later than Monday night.
