Wisconsin ACT Scores Remain Above National Average, MPS Lags

The average composite ACT score of Wisconsin's 2013 graduating class was 22.1. The national average was 20.9.

Wisconsin's average score remained the same as it was for 2012 graduates, so did the percentage of seniors who took the test - 71%.

In Milwaukee Public Schools, the average composite score was 15.8. However, 89% of the Class of 2013 took the ACT.

Several Midwest states continued to perform well. Wisconsin and Iowa tied for the second highest composite score, among states where at least half the seniors took the test. Minnesota was tops, with an average score of 23. The maximum score on the college readiness test is 36.

In some states, students are more likely to take the SAT than the ACT.
