Sudden, hard-hitting storms dumped nearly four inches of rain on some parts of the metro area overnight.Rain fall totals from an early morning storm ranged from 3.75 inches in Shorewood to just over 1.5 inches in Bay View. About three inches of rain fell in parts of Wauwatosa.
The heavy downpours caused the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District to activate combined sewer overflows in some parts of its service area. The strategy allows untreated, or partially treated sewage to flow directly into area rivers or the lake in order to reduce the possibility of basement back ups.
UWM's Innovative Weather forecast is calling for a possibility of storms --some of which could be heavy, throughout Wednesday morning, overnight and early Thursday.
