Milwaukee County Ballot Could be Stacked with Questions

The Milwaukee County Board voted on Thursday to place three questions on the November 4 ballot.

One would ask voters whether the state should raise its minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.

Another urges the Legislature to take federal money to expand Wisconsin’s BadgerCare health insurance program for low-income residents.

Supervisor Patricia Jursik says the responses could be illuminating for state leaders. "Some of these issues are so important, citizens want to go and voice their own opinion, and I think we should give them an opportunity,” Jursik testified.

A third referendum would ask voters whether Milwaukee should switch from having an elected county executive to a hired county administrator.
