The Spanish train company Talgo has filed a claim for damages, with Wisconsin's claims board.
It argues that the state owes the company about $66 million for work related to a high-speed rail line that never came to fruition.
The state government had agreed to buy two train sets from Talgo for the rail line, which would have connected Milwaukee and Madison, eventually linking the cities to a broader high-speed network. The state also entered into a deal with Talgo to perform maintenance.
Shortly after Scott Walker was elected governor in 2010, he killed the line. Walker argued that while federal stimulus funds would have paid for construction, the line would be too costly for Wisconsin to operate.
The state Department of Justice had no comment for the Associated Press, when asked about the claim.
