New Issue in Stalled State Budget Talks: Foxconn

Justin W Kern
Lawmakers may have to include incentives for Foxconn in the state budget

It's been nearly a month since lawmakers were supposed to pass a state budget, and discussions remain at a standstill.  The issue that continues to hold up talks, is how to pay for roads.  Legislative leaders are trying to figure out how to plug a billion dollar hole in the transportation budget, without delaying major projects such as the Zoo Interchange.

What's further complicating matters -- lawmakers may need to cut a deal in the budget, to lure electronics manufacturer Foxconn to Wisconsin.  The company could announce its plans this week.  WUWM's Marti Mikkelson spoke with JR Ross of wispolitics.com, about where budget talks stand.
