Lake Effect Weekend: 1970s Belfast, Retail Changes in Milwaukee, "The Seeds of Banquo," Irish Music

This weekend on Lake Effect:

Milwaukee is a divided city in many ways – but in the Belfast of the 1970s, the divisions were deep, formal and violent. We’ll talk with writer Tony Macaulay about growing up in the middle of it all. Then, how the retail landscape is changing in Milwaukee. Playwright Angela Iannone draws heavily on primary source materials for her fourth play based on 19th American actor Edwin Booth, and we’ll have tunes from the Irish bands Socks in the Frying Pan and We Banjo 3.

Guests:

  • Tony Macaulay, author
  • Claire Hanan, associate editor at Milwaukee Magazine
  • Angela Iannone, playwright; Marcee Doherty-Elst, actress and producing director at Theatre Red; & John Glowvacki, actor
  • Socks in the Frying Pan, band
  • We Banjo 3, band
