It’s been over a month since the Milwaukee County Parks reopened McKinley Beach — it was initially closed in 2020 after at least four people drowned in dangerous currents.

A recent article titled "Racism in the water: Access for all in outdoor recreation" sheds light on the enduring issue of racial disparities in accessing these outdoor recreational spaces.

Attendees of the Shipwrecks of the Great Lakes will learn about the sinking of the Eastland, the deadliest maritime disaster on the Great Lakes; the lore behind the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald and a few lesser-known shipwrecks as well.
