Ex Fabula: All Stars!

Art Montes
Storyteller Joel Dresang

As we count down the final days to the Ex Fabula All Stars event, this week - last but not least - we’re featuring our final two Audience Favorites of Season 8: two fellas who are no strangers to the Ex Fabula stage or donning the coveted velvet crown.

Our March “Acquired Taste” StorySlam took us back to one of our favorite venues, Times Cinema, where Joel Dresang reminisced that his father always loved a good single malt scotch, neat. Although it was something Joel could never acquire a taste for. Joel takes us on a beautiful and, like scotch, bittersweet story of a father/son relationship, identity and the struggle for individuality. Tune in to learn what other tastes Joel did or did not acquire from his Dad.

In April we took to a new stage at 3041 North, where Peter May won the Audience Favorite with his “Only In Milwaukee” tale. It’s standard practice that if something doesn’t fit in ones’ garbage can (old furniture, art, left over rummage items), you leave it by the curb for the garbage collectors or maybe a neighbor. One person’s trash is another’s treasure and all that. However, sometimes what’s left by the curb isn’t trash at all and, indeed, property. Tune in to hear Peter’s hilarious story of a middle of the night treasure hunt that turned criminal:

Cue the lights! One night only! One Stage, One Title and Eight Ex Fabula Audience Favorites all primed and ready with stories of “Unfinished Business.” It’s finally here. This Thursday, May 18th, the Ex Fabula All Stars event will return to Historic Turner Hall for a night of emotion, entertainment and community as the best of the Season 8 share 10-minute stories on “Unfinished Business.”
