Republican U.S. Rep. incumbent Glenn Grothman has retained his seat in Wisconsin's 6th Congressional District — in what was called the most competitive House seat in Wisconsin involving an incumbent. The district has been in Republican hands since the 1960s.
He won the race despite concerns that a heavy Democratic turnout and being outspent in media buys could have given challenger Dan Kohl the advantage needed to flip the seat. However, the 6th Congressional District remains red with its strong Republican base.

Grothman has stated that this race was the “toughest race of his political career” against Kohl, nephew of former U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl. Grothman has yet to lose an election in over two decades of Wisconsin politics, which includes time in both the state Assembly and state Senate.
Grothman and his challenger fought primarily over health care and the benefits of the Republican tax plan passed in 2017. He says he will make sure protections for pre-existing conditions remain in place, even if the Affordable Care Act is repealed. He is also in favor of building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.
