Dr. Megan Sandel, a pediatrician at Boston Medical Center and expert on housing and child health, will speak at Wauwatosa United Methodist Church on April 11.

There are many obstacles to health care in the United States. Many of these obstacles are financial, and there is a core issue that researchers and health care professionals have been focusing on recently: housing.

Housing instability and its health implications are a core part of Dr. Megan Sandel’s work. Sandel is a professor of pediatrics and environmental health at Boston University. The nationally recognized expert on housing and child health will share her expertise at an event at Wauwatosa United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 11 at 6 p.m.

Sandel is an advocate for health care organizations to become involved in affordable housing solutions, as a way of solving this complex issue.

"I think more and more there are solutions. I think it sometimes feels like housing is this insurmountable problem. But I really, truly believe that we can come together as communities to increase health through housing stability," she says.
