A bullet struck and killed five-year-old Laylah Petersen, while she was inside a home near 58th and Fairmount. Someone had fired shots into the house.

Police continue searching for suspects and are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Chief Edward Flynn says the youngster was sitting on a family's member lap when she was hit.

According to reports, two people approached the home about 6 P.M. Thursday night and fired numerous times.

Police say the suspects targeted the house where the girl lived with her grandparents.
