Friday on Lake Effect: Biliteracy, Milwaukee VA, Milwaukee Magazine's City Guide, Transplant Eyes

Friday on Lake Effect

A group of high school graduates from the School District of Waukesha is graduating with a distinct badge of honor: the Seal of Biliteracy. We explore the benefits of a bilingual education. Then, as the Milwaukee VA Medical Center celebrates its 150th anniversary, we speak with its medical director. Later, a look at Milwaukee Magazine's City Guide and an exhibit in Walker's Point, which asks the question: what does it mean to be an American?

Guests:

  • D. Garcia, director, Multilingual and Global Education, School District of Waukesha
  • Dan Zomchek, medical director, Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center
  • Carole Nicksin, editor-in-chief, Milwaukee Magazine
  • Kat Amjadi and John Schuerman, co-curators, "Transplant Eyes" exhibit, Walker's Point Center for the Arts
