Anthropologist BIRUTE GALDIKAS. "The New York Times Magazine" called her the "third angel" of Louis Leakey, who also taught Jane Goodall and DIan Fossey. GALDIKAS has been studying orangutans in Indonesia since 1971, when virtually nothing was known about the animal in the wild.
