April 22nd marked Earth Day's 45th Anniversary and Ex Fabula is still celebrating.

In a perfectly told story of becoming one with nature, Jim Winship recollects an absolute perfect day at the beach. He takes us on a trip of the senses, to “a day without tragedy or triumph, rescues or heroism,” an ordinary day and a golden day. This was a day of wind, sand, surf, sunshine and the naturally occurring and endless ebb and flow of the ocean and the simple and absolute natural rhythm of life.

Our second story takes us on an entirely different adventure. More like woman against wild, Lauren Poppen recounts a camping trip that went terribly wrong. An elusive staircase hidden in the wilderness, a rushing river, fallen trees, a poorly calculated jump, and a front-page-making emergency rescue, left Lauren with a new respect for Mother Nature.

You know Ex Fabula for its monthly Story Slams. But did you know that Ex Fabula is also out in the community facilitating storytelling activities through community partnerships? These outreach efforts help more people tell their stories, while helping the organizations involved further their mission.

We feel very honored to be partnering with Wild Space for Bold! Reckless! Wild Space! Artistic Director Debra Loewen has gathered company members, past collaborators and Ex Fabula for an evening of creative daring. For one of the new pieces, Ex Fabula storyteller Tracy Lehrnann will share a story and the Wild Space Company will bring it to life through contemporary dance. Shows run April 30-May 2nd.

Speaking of tickets, the Ex Fabula Season 6 All Stars Event is coming to Turner Hall on May 13th. This is your chance to see all of your season 6 favorites together for one spectacular night of storytelling.
