The money will establish a Lubar Center for Entrepreneurship at UWM, on the corner of Kenwood Blvd. and Maryland Ave.  According to UWM Chancellor Mark Mone, the Lubar Center will house many of UWM's programs that prepare students to be entrepreneurs and innovators, and it will assist start-up local companies that are striving to bring more services and products to market.

"Wisconsin has fallen behind other states in creating new jobs and launching startup companies... bolstering this kind of entrepreneurial ecosystem is vital to a healthy economy and job creation,” Mone said.

The new building will also include a welcome center for visitors and prospective students.

This is Sheldon and Marianne Lubar's second $10 million donation to UWM. The first, in 2006, created an endowment to support scholarships and professorships in what has become the Lubar School of Business.

“We believe education and entrepreneurship are the pathways to a happy, productive and rewarding life,” according to Sheldon Lubar. He is the founder and chairman of Lubar & Company, a private investment firm.

UWM's enrollment exceeds 28,000 students, and the school pegs its annual economic impact in Wisconsin at more than $1.5 billion.
