Sheriff's deputies and gatherers stand face-to-face Wednesday evening.

People who wanted to honor the life of 19-year-old Terry Williams gathered near Bradford Beach on Wednesday evening. Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies also lined the street.

Deputy Michael Truax is on administrative leave for shooting Williams in the head late Sunday, following a traffic violation. The Waukesha County Sheriff continues investigating the details of what may have lead to the incident. Williams died of his injuries on Tuesday. A young woman who was in the vehicle with him at the time of the shooting was also struck and is recovering.

Update, evening of June 13:

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner says 19-year-old Terry Williams died Tuesday at Froedtert Hospital. He had been on life-support since a sheriff's deputy reportedly shot him in the head late Sunday, after it appears the vehicle Williams was in tried to flee from officers near Bradford Beach. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Update, morning of June 13:

The Waukesha Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting by a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputy over the weekend near Bradford Beach. A 19-year-old man by the name of Terry Williams is on life support after  being shot in the head. A passenger in the vehicle, Paula McEwen was shot in the left shoulder and right hand.

Deputy Tobie Weberg says the incident started with an attempted traffic stop.

“A deputy that was on patrol observed a vehicle making a traffic violation for failing to obey a sign, exiting the Northpoint parking lot and to travel southbound on Lincoln Memorial Drive at which time he initiated a traffic stop on the suspect, attempting to. The suspect immediately fled,” Weberg says.

According to Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke, officers found a loaded 9mm handgun in the vehicle. Clarke identified the deputy involved as 32-year-old Michael Truax. He’s been with the department since August of 2016 and is now on administrative leave, while the Waukesha Sheriff’s Department investigates the shooting.

It is asking anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact Waukesha authorities.

Original post, Sunday, June 11:

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has scheduled a news conference for 3:30 Monday afternoon to discuss Sunday evening's shooting. There have been no official reports about the incident since law enforcement squads flooded the area near Bradford Beach. Observers near the scene reported seeing a deputy open fire on a vehicle that had been involved in an incident. Early reports indicate two people were struck.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is reviewing the circumstances because the matter involved a law enforcement officer.

Many people had been spending time at the lakefront on Sunday to escape the heat.
