Wisconsin Economic Poll: Good News for State's Incumbents

Wisconsin Economic Scorecard

Wisconsinites are slightly more optimistic about the state's finances, according to the latest Wisconsin Economic Scorecard poll.

Last week, a Marquette University poll showed a slight shift in voter sentiment in the Wisconsin gubernatorial race. Governor Scott Walker now leads Democrat Mary Burke by five percentage points among likely voters, the first time the difference has been larger than the margin of error.

This morning the Wisconsin Economic Scorecard poll from WUWM, WisBusiness.com and the UWM Center for Urban Initiatives and Research is also reporting a shift, albeit a slight one – in how state residents perceive their own financial health.

"We saw last week that the Marquette Law School’s political poll shows our incumbent governor with a lead that’s just outside the margin of error,"Joseph Cera says. "So in states where incumbent governors are in serious electoral trouble, residents tend to be much more pessimistic about their state’s economies than they are here."
