When Chicago-based filmmakers Aaron Wickenden and Dan Rybicky first encountered Peter Anton, they didn’t expect to spend the next eight years making a film about the elderly, outsider artist. But that’s what happened.
Almost There is the story of Peter Anton and has the first of its three screenings at the Milwaukee Film Festival Saturday afternoon at 12:30 at the Downer Theater. Both filmmakers will be in attendance at that screening.
It’s a remarkable and complicated story, and Lake Effect's Bonnie North reached Rybicky and Wickenden by phone from Chicago ahead of the festival to learn how the project began.
