The intersection of people, design and technology is a focus at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD). While the school has always had industrial and communication design majors, it now boasts an Innovation Center that works with emerging technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
When Michael DelGaudio graduated from MIAD in 2001 that sort of work either didn’t exist or was in its infancy. DelGaudio rode the technology wave and is now the User Experience, or UX, design lead at Google.
He was back at his alma mater this week to give a lecture at the MIAD creativity series. He came to the studio to talk more about how what he does affects anyone who uses computers, smartphones, and smart TVs:
