Walker Gets 'Somewhat Subdued' Greeting From Iowa Republicans

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker delivered a keynote address at an Iowa Republican Party gathering last night in West Des Moines.Veteran Des Moines Register political reporter Jennifer Jacobs covered Wisconsin Gov. Scott Waker's speech to Republican Party faithful.  Jacobs says he sounded much like a presidential hopeful.

"He said all the things you might expect in a speech before the Iowa caucuses. He stressed his prowess in fund raising, he said he had a vision for the nation,  and it was very much a prescripton for a campaign speech" Jacobs says.

Jacobs says the audience applauded Walker when he took the stage and left the podium, but overall, the response to his speech was somewhat subdued. She says based on conversations with audience members, it's clear the Iowans she spoke with don't have detailed knowledge of Walker's actions here as well as protests that have followed him throughout his term.

Jacobs says a group of about a dozen people opposed to Walker's agenda, including members of the group, One Wisconsin Now, held a news conference prior to the Governor's speech.
