Long-time Republican Assemblyman Scott Suder will resign his seat Sept. 3 to become administrator of Water, Compliance and Consumer Affairs for the PSC.
Suder has represented the 69th district since 1998 and now serves as Assembly Majority Leader.
GOP Assembly Speaker Robin Vos praises Suder for leading efforts to streamline Wisconsin's mining laws, repeal early release of criminals, pass concealed carry and Jessica's Law. It sets minimum sentences for people convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child.
Suder was a member of the Wisconsin Air National Guard and served three tours of duty in the Middle East.
In announcing the appointment Wednesday, Gov. Walker released a statement: "I thank Rep. Suder for his work in the Legislature and I look forward to being able to work with him in this new capacity.”
The PSC regulates Wisconsin's public utilities and sets rates. The division Suder will head deals with water utility issues, including consumer complaints.
