Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris spent Labor Day visiting Milwaukee.

Harris met with Jacob Blake and his family. Blake is the African American father who Kenosha police shot in the back seven times two weeks ago. She then made stops at a local union chapter and spoke with representatives of the city's Black and brown communities.

Harris told reporters that Blake and his family are carrying the weight of a lot of voices on their shoulders.

Harris also visited with union members, Black business owners and Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes. She told the group that if Joe Biden wins the presidential election, he'd advance racial equity as part of the nation's economic recovery.

"Talking about the dignity of work and the dignity of human begins and the importance of leadership to tap into that dignity that we grow capacity,” says Harris.

Vice President Mike Pence also stopped in Wisconsin on Monday. In his visit to La Crosse, he focused on the economy, noting half the people in the U.S. who lost their jobs in the spring due to the coronavirus have since returned to work.
