USS Milwaukee Christened and Launched

The vessel, built in northern Wisconsin, is part of the U.S. Navy's new class of warships.

The USS Milwaukee is described as a speedy, high tech ship, equipped to conduct combat very near shorelines. According to the Navy, relatively small crews can manage the ships.

The Marinette Marine Corporation built the vessel.  After a champagne bottle was cracked across its hull, the ship was dropped into the Menominee River in northern Wisconsin.
