Storms Knocked Out Power for 115,000 WE Energies Customers

Michelle Maternowski

WE Energies calls Monday night's power outages the worst in a decade. As of Tuesday morning, utility crews still had 36,000 customers to reconnect.

Severe thunderstorms lashed southern Wisconsin Monday evening and night, with strong winds and driving rain. The utility reports damage to 29 power poles, not to mention scores of fallen trees that also brought down lines.

The Keenan Health Center in Milwaukee (3200 N. 36th St.) is closed, because it lost power in Monday night's storms.

Until it is restored, the City of Milwaukee advises people needing the center's services to either call 414-286-8620, or visit the Northwest Health Center (7630 W. Mill Rd.) or the Southside Health Center (1639 S. 23rd St.)

UPDATE: The Keenan Health Center reopened mid-morning on Wednesday, July 2.
