The Dane County Medical Examiner has released preliminary autopsy reports in Tony Robinson’s death.
Robinson was the 19-year-old biracial man shot to death by a white police officer in Madison last Friday. Police say Officer Matt Kenny was called to the scene of a disturbance, when Robinson -- who was unarmed -- assaulted the officer.
According to the coroner's report, Robinson died from “firearm related trauma.” He was shot in the head, torso and right arm. The report does not indicate how many bullets entered Robinson’s body. Results of toxicology tests are not yet available.
State Attorney General Brad Schimel’s office is conducting a probe into the shooting. Investigators have conducted more than 60 interviews so far. Schimel says his office’s findings should be made public within the next two weeks.
Robinson’s death has sparked a series of protests in Madison, just as deaths of black men in police custody have sparked protests in other cities around the nation.
On Wednesday, about 1,000 marchers blocked traffic in Madison. The same day, about 250 people joined a separate gathering, held in support of the police.
