NPR T-Shirt Designed by WUWM Listener Jessica Roush

Milwaukee artist Jessica Roush has been selected as the winner of the "My Sound World" T-shirt design challenge from NPR and Threadless. The winning design is available for purchase in the NPR Shop and at, with proceeds also benefiting WUWM.

NPR and Threadless teamed up in August to host a four-week design national challenge that called on artists to create the ultimate NPR T-shirt. Roush's NPR: Plugged In concept received more than 500 winning votes.

"I decided to illustrate [NPR's] effect on me, in that I get lost in thought and imagination and wonder when I listen," says Roush. "I'm absorbed by the current events stories, and feel closer to the world around me. I tried to include country, suburban, cityscapes and the NPR colors."

Roush graduated from North Carolina State in 2010 with degrees in Textile Technology and Art & Design. She is a textile artist in the Home department of Kohl's Corporate Office and the owner of the online shop Querida.
