Ex Fabula: Wild Things

Bob Pothier shares a story.

Have you ever run away – from home, from work or from someone? Have you ever felt the need to go wild? Catch Ex Fabulaand Milwaukee Public Libraryat #TheSpot4MKE on 5th and Wisconsin and share your story! We’ll be collecting UltraShorts – short personal stories written on slips of paper – inspired by Maurice Sendak: The Memorial Exhibition and Where the Wild Things Are.

Inspired by Maurice Sendak, this week’s radio show is all about “going wild” in two very different environments. Back in 2010, Bob Pothier took the stage to tell us all about the importance of being spontaneous. After a 10-day courtship, Bob and his (now) wife became engaged. This leap of faith turned into a marriage of 23+ years and many wild adventures, including hot tubs and double-dog-dares.

Our second story takes us back to East Africa where a 12-year-old Stuart Rudolph was vacationing with three very strong female family elders. Between the hitch hiking African warriors and a pride of hungry lions, Stuart found himself on the wildest ride of his life.

The Milwaukee Public Library has many wild events planned to showcase the fantastical worlds of Maurice Sendak and Ex Fabula is thrilled to be part of the adventure.

We’re also thrilled to be teaming up with Broadscope Disability Serviceson July 27th for a celebration and exploration of the Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA, through personal stories. The ADA is 25 years old, and while we’ve made great strides in improving equal access, we also have more work to do. Come to listen and learn… or to put your name in the hat and share a story. Several storytellers have already been scheduled but there will be time for 5-minute “Easy Access” stories from audience members.
