State's May Unemployment Rate Down Slightly

Wisconsin's unemployment rate has fallen a fraction of a point.

The state Department of Workforce Development says the latest jobless rate is seven percent. That’s one-tenth of a point better than April, but unchanged from May one year ago.

The latest statistics show Wisconsin gained 10,400 nonfarm jobs from April to May. The total includes a loss of more one thousand manufacturing jobs and a gain of 4,600 jobs in the leisure and hospitality industry.

The latest report shows 4,200 fewer state employees from April to May.
