Downtown Milwaukee: Big Equipment Moves into Place to Demolish NML Building

Crews will disassemble the tall, brown Northwestern Mutual office building. Afterwards, construction will begin on its 32-story replacement.

Tall cranes have arrived in downtown Milwaukee, while scaffolding is starting to surround sections of the 16-story building. Its workers have been relocated to other company facilities for the duration of the project.

NML says its new tower and common areas will better meet the needs of its policyholders and clients, while serving as a catalyst for economic development downtown.

Construction is scheduled to commence in mid-2014, with completion occurring in 2017.
