Most Wisconsin Public Schools Meet or Exceed Expectations

According to the Dept. of Public Instruction, 88% of (1,910) schools met or exceeded expectations in 2012, while three percent (58 schools) failed to meet expectations.

DPI also graded school districts, for a first time. Milwaukee Public Schools was the only district that failed to meet expectations, the lowest rating. Ten other districts were rated a step higher - meets few expectations.

MPS responded to the report by pointing out that more of its schools are meeting or exceeding expectations compared to a year ago.  The district says 34 MPS schools met, exceeded or significantly exceeded expectations, up from 29.

This is the second year of the DPI 'report card.' It's designed to reflect school and district progress toward preparing students for college and a career.
